Description
A schematic scission model is applied to the lambda-attachment function recently obtained by the LEAR PS177 collaboration, in their measurement of the prompt fission of hypernuclei. It is shown that the attachment function is sensitive to the scission configuration, necking dynamics and nuclear temperature at scission. It provides a new and powerful way to study the nuclear scission process. (orig.)
