Description

Research using spectroscopy and research into improving the various spectroscopic techniques continues around the world mainly with two motivations: the subject has found enormous applications in various areas like material analysis and characterization, biochemical, medical field, astronomy, remote sensing, imaging, etc; and it has always been a very imperative tool for scientists in understanding fundamental principles in nature. This talk focuses on resonance excitation/ionization based laser spectroscopic techniques developed in the laboratory and their applications. A thermal opto-galvanic spectroscopy technique using CW diode lasers to generate high resolution spectroscopic data useful for studies on hyperfine interactions has been developed. Application of the technique to natural uranium isotopic system and related results has been discussed here
