On some additional possibilities for charged particle beam monitoring by induction electrodes

Description

The electronic equipment is described for measurement of the effective width of the beam in the .JINR synchrocyclotron. The equipment measures the instantaneous value of the beam coordinate in the radial direction. It consists of a transducer, preamplifiers, main amplifiers, analog signal converters, commutators and control circuit. The transducer is made up of two plane-parallel plates grounded on the perimeter with the cutouts of 300x40 mm, intended for signal electrodes. All the circuits are arranged in ''VISHNYA'' standard subunits. Given are the results of measurements on the proton and deuteron beams during the acceleration cycle, without disturbance of the accelerated beams. The mean error in determination of the normalized amplitudes of induced charge amounts to +-0.015, the error in determination of the effective width is (<) 10%, and the error in determination of the beam center-of-gravity deviation is +-1 cm
