Spectrophotometric study of neodymium complexing with silicate-ion in the presence of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid

  • 1. Leningradskij Gosudarstvennyj Pedagogicheskij Inst., Leningrad (USSR)

Description

By spectrophotometric method the composition of different-ligand complex of Nd with EDTA and silicate-ion has been determined. It is ascertained that regardless of Nd hydroxocomplexonate existence form (dimeric or monomeric) in highly alkaline medium the ratio of components in the mixed complex is 1:1:1. It is shown that the composition of the mixed complex, isolated from solution, is similar to the complex in solution. Calcination of the different-ligand complex results in the formation of amorphous silicate of neodymium, which at the temperature exceeding 940 deg C is crystallized in the only form-neodymium diorthosilicate
