Gd-DTPA-bismorpholide
Description
The aim of this study is to characterize MR enhancement properties of a new low-osmolarity MR imaging contrast agent, Gd-DTPA-bismorpholide (gadopenamide) having an extracellular fluid space distribution. Compared with Gd- DTPA dimeglumine, gadopenamide is lower in osmolality (810 vs 1,900 mOsm/kg), higher in acute mouse tolerance (LD50, 30 vs 6 mmol/kg), without significant differences in relaxivity, viscosity, biodistribution, or in vivo stability. Animal experiments were performed with use of a 2.0-T CSI unit with a spin-echo sequence (TR 310 msec/TE 15 msec) in normal rats, in tumor-bearing mice, and in rat models of myocardial ischemia and middle cerebral artery occlusion
