The biology of Lebistes reticulatus (Pisces, Poecilidae) maintained in an aqueous medium containing low mercury nitrate (203HgNO3) concentrations

The capacity for mercury absorption by Lebistes reticulatus (Pisces, Poecilidade), using low concentrations of 203HgNO3, during 18 days is evaluated. The determination of the radiotracer was made by ''whole-body'' detection with a gamma radiation detector utilizing a NaI(Tl) well-type crystal and then calculated in nanograms of mercury absorbed by grams of live weight (ngHg/gLW). Analysis of the absorption curves are presented. (M.A.C.)

Investiga-se a capacidade de absorcao pelo Lebistes reticulatus (Pisces, Poecilidae), do mercurio, atraves do emprego do 203HgNO3 em baixas concentracoes, durante 18 dias. Realiza-se a leitura do radiotracador pela deteccao em ''corpo inteiro'' da radiacao gama emitida por um cristal de NaI(Tl) tipo poco, e por calculos, transformando-se a radiacao emitida em nanograma de mercurio absorvido por grama de peso vivo (ngHg/g.PV).
