Magellanic cloud investigations

Description

A B, V photometric investigation of the Large Magellanic Cloud blue globular cluster NGC 1850 has been carried out. The study extends to V = 18. The cluster shows a strong blue main sequence and extensive numbers of evolved stars at both red and intermediate colours. The cluster appears to have an age close to 3 × 10 7 yr with turn-off point near eight solar masses. The evolutionary pattern conforms with theory and empirical studies of the somewhat older cluster NGC 1866.
