Explicit knowledge management using information technology in BATAN

Nuclear knowledge in BATAN that published in various media and unpublished form are explicit knowledge that should be managed effectively and efficiently. The goal is to optimize the transfer of knowledge in order to creation of new knowledge in the nuclear field. This activity is also intended as an effort to disseminate nuclear science and technology to the wider community. The good knowledge management can also be used to measure organizational performance through the number of publications resulted by institution. The method of explicit knowledge management used is using of information technology applications to integrate explicit knowledge in all work units accompanied by operating procedures by the user (work unit). At the top level, explicit knowledge management is handled by providing a knowledge management portal as a gateway to seeking explicit knowledge of the nuclear field by organizing knowledge according to BATAN's competency taxonomy. The work unit at BATAN as a source of knowledge update the portal content according to the operating procedure. Users (BATAN employees) utilize knowledge portal to improve their competence for creation new knowledge. (author)
