Analysis of ion-acoustic solitons in a low-pressure magnetized plasma
Creators
Description
The stationary soliton solutions of the ion equations of motion in a magnetized low-pressure plasma are studied. The analysis is carried out in the phase plane, so that the basic properties of the soliton solutions can be clearly demonstrated. In particular, there are certain allowed ranges of the soliton propagation velocity and of the angle between the soliton propagation direction and the external magnetic field. Some illustrative calculations of the distributions of the density and of the velocity components are reported for these soliton solutions
