Description

The effective growth rate of beam-plasma instability is obtained in a plasma whose density varies abruptly in the longitudinal direction, thereby changing the dispersion properties of the waveguide system and the coupling between the wave and the beam. The method proposed for studying the beam-plasma instability can also be applied to such sets of ordinary differential equations whose coefficients vary abruptly in space
