Stueckelberg oscillations in total charge transfer cross sections at low energy

  • 1. Univ. of Colorado, Boulder, CO (United States)

Description

A semiclassical theory for the low energy charge transfer process N+4 + H → N+3 + H+ is discussed. Calculations employing the semiclassical theory show pronounced oscillations in the, angle integrated, cross sections with energy. The oscillations are identical with the ones observed using a fully quantal close-coupling approximation. Stueckelberg oscillations are usually associated with observed oscillatory structures in angle resolved cross sections, here we show that Stueckelberg undulations of the total cross sections, at low energies, may also be observed
