Mass-spectrometric determination of uranium isotope ratio

Description

The mass-spectrometric method determining the isotope uranium composition with the aid of an installation equipped with a three-band ion source is developed. Attention was given to the calibration of mass spectrometer and spectrum processing. Uranium separation out from the samples studied was performed with the extraction by diethyl ther or out from chloride medium on the coloumn with the Dowex anionite. Separation from Pu was made by the TTA extraction. It is shown that reproducability of determining the isotope ratio of R58 in the range of 0.007 - 1 and reliability of data in comparison with uranium standards expressed by the variation coefficient are lower than 0.2% and 0.3%, respectively
