Magnetic observations of the x-ray binaries HD 77581 and HD 153919
Description
Narrow-band circular polarization measurements made together with proffle scans of Ha in HD 77581 and HD 153919 do not indicate significant Zeeman splitting. Individual measurements yield field values from 40 to 900 gauss, consistent with random errors expected from photon statistics assuming no magnetic field. Accurate measurements of the field in 53 Cam were obtained as a test of the measurement technique. Subject headings: magnetic fields - polarization - X-ray sources
