Description

Automatic translation: A joint program for the development of fuel element matrix materials has been agreed between the company NUKEM and the Institute for Reactor Materials at the Jülich Nuclear Research Facility. As part of this programme, matrix materials and composite bodies are produced and characterized. Based on the experience gained by NUKEM in the production of spherical fuel elements, the starting raw materials, their mixing ratio and the production parameters will be varied. A comprehensive characterization of the products is intended to verify their technological usability and is also part of scientific materials research.

Abstract (German)

Zwischen der Firma NUKEM und dem Institut für Reaktorwerkstoffe der Kernforschungsanlage Jülich wurde ein gemeinsames Programm zur Entwicklung von Brennelement-Matrixmaterialien vereinbart. Im Rahmen dieses Programmes werden Matrixmaterialien und Verbundkörper hergestellt und charakterisiert. Aufbauend auf den Erfahrungen, die NUKEM bei der Herstellung kugelförmiger Brennelemente gewonnen hat, werden die Ausgangsrohstoffe, deren Mischungsverhältnis und die Herstellungsparameter varriert. Eine möglichst umfangreiche Charakterisierung der Produkte soll einmal deren technologische Verwendbarkeit überprüfen und gehört zum anderen zur wissenschaftlichen Materialforschung.
