  • 1. P.S.G. Coll. of Arts and Science, Coimbatore (India)

Description

A general introduction is given to the study of liquid crystals. The three phases of the crystals: smectic, nematic and cholesteric are described in detail. The optical physics and electrical properties of the crystals have been made use of for practical applications in image formation (in digital watches), thermography (in medicine) and spectroscopic studies (of properties of molecules).
