A model of the radio emission mechanism in pulsars
Description
The electromagnetic interaction between high energy beam such as electrons and positrons and plasma is discussed as a possible mechanism of radio emission of pulsar. For simplicity, the simultaneous excitations of R and L waves by ultrarelativistic beams of electrons and positrons are considered. Assuming the distribution functions of electrons and positions, the growth rates of R and L waves are derived from the dispersion relations. The particle density of the beam is estimated also, assuming that the non-gyrating, high-energy beam of electrons and positrons flow outwards along open field lines. The brightness temperature and spectrum from the model pulsar are also estimated and discussed, and comparison is made about the maximum temperature and spectrum with those obtained by other researchers or by observations.
