Possibilities for energy efficiency improvement by the electro motor devices

  • 1. Faculty of Electrotechnical Engineering, 'St. Cyril and Methodius' University, Skopje (Macedonia, The Former Yugoslav Republic of)

Description

Electric drives are the greatest electric energy consumers. Their efficient usage have direct impact on the electric energy production and environment. The induction motors are the most used motors, so they will be treated in this paper The most used machines are pumps (31 %), compressors (18 %) and fans (16 %). The electric drives efficiency can be improved by: correct electric motor choose (higher efficiency factor and power factor); usage of frequency and voltage converters; modern diagnostic tools for the quick defect detection (more working hours and lower maintenance costs are available. With the usage of this proposed ways, the exploitation period can be extended with lower exploitation costs. (Author)
