Polarization measurement of continuous X-rays with a 3a-printed spectrometer

Description
In order to investigate the degree of polarization of Compton scattered X-rays, we made a small device, and measured it with acryl and lead polarizers. The polarization degree of acryl polarizer was 0.63 and higher than that of lead. Acryl is composed of light elements so that Compton scattering occurs with high probability. That affected the differences of acryl and lead's degree of polarization. (author)
Abstract (Japanese)
散乱X線の偏光度測定装置を3Dプリンタにより作製し,偏光素子としてアクリル板および鉛板を用いた際に散乱されるX線の偏光度を測定した.アクリル偏光板を用いたときのX線の偏光度は鉛板を用いた場合に比べ高くなった.アクリルは軽元素で構成されているため,コンプトン散乱強度が大きくなる.このことがアクリル板と鉛板を偏光素子として用いた際の散乱X線の偏光度に影響を与えていることがわかった.(著者)Additional details
