Effect of plasma boundary on self excited ion oscillations
Description
This paper describes the observation of ion plasma oscillation in spherical discharge systems of different sizes (10, 20, 40 cm dia.) The chamber was first evacuated to 10-6 torr pressure before admitting pure argon at operating gas pressure in the range 10-4 torr to 10-5 torr. Externally, no magnetic field was applied to the system. Plasma was produced in the plasma source by a dc discharge between the cathode K and a mesh anode G1 and diffused to a second grid anode G2. Results were obtained from three different spherical systems
