The joint SKI/SKB scenario development project

  • 1. Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate, Stockholm, (Sweden)
  • 2. Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co. Stockholm, (Sweden)

Description

The Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate (SKI) and the Swedish Nuclear Waste Management Co. (SKB) have carried through a joint scenario development exercise using the Sandia Methodology as a starting point. The project has resulted in an extensive list of features, events and processes (FEPs). This list of FEPs together with a relatively short explanatory memo-text written to each FEP has been entered into a database on a PC. The FEPs have been sorted into different groups, i.e. outscreened, process system and FEPs KEPT outside the process system. FEPs assigned to the process system represent detailed phenomena that could be regarded as always present but which states may be determined by external conditions. FEPs kept outside the process system represent key external events and processes of relevance for the safety of a radioactive waste repository. 2 refs., 1 tab
