Investigation of uranyl chloride complexes with dimethyl formamide

Description

Using the method of vibrational spectroscopy, PMR and thermal analysis the complexes prepared from acetone solution of uranylchloride with dimethyl formamide (DMFA) of the following compositions: UO2Cl2x2DMFA, UO2Cl2x3DMFA, UO2Cl2x2DMFAxH2O are investigated. The vibrational frequencies are interpreted in comparison with deuterated samples. It is shown that in the composition of the complexes DMFA is present in two forms. It has been found that as a result of storge of UO2Cl2x2DMFA and UO2Cl2x3DMFA in the air they transform into the complex the composition UO2Cl2x2DMFAxH2O. According to NMR data of high resolution it has been established that the values of chemical shifts depend on the distance between resonating group of protons and metalcomplexing agent and increase with the increase of uranyl coordination number. Considerations as to the strength of DMFA and H2O molecular bond in the complexes are presented. The temperature ranges of H2O and DMFA splitting off and decomposition of the complexes are determined. U3O8 is the final product of decomposition
