On the ability of ruthenium for π-coordination with the aromatic cycle fragments

Description
((η6-mesitylene)RuCl2)2 and sodium naphthalide reaction was used to prepare ((η6-mesitylene)(1-4-η4-naphthalene)Ru) complex. It is shown that unsubstituted naphthalene is capable of η4 coordination with ruthenium. Orange prismatic crystals of the prepared compound are monoclinic, at -120 deg C a=21.58(1), b=9.300(4), c=19.89(1) A, β=132.65(3) deg, v=2936(2) A3, sp.gr. C2/c, Z=8, dcalcd=1.58 g/cm3
