Excited states in 86Y

  • 1. Departamento de Fisica, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, 1428 Buenos Aires, Argentina

Description

High spin states in 86Y were studied through the 85Rb(α, 3n) reaction at energies between 30 and 55 MeV, using techniques of in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy. Eight levels were observed on top of the J/sup π/ = 8+ (218.3 keV) metastable state which are connected by γ rays in cascade and five levels decaying to the J/sup π/ = 5- (208.1 keV) excited state. The former were interpreted in terms of the weak coupling of the proton π(1g/sub 9/2/) and the neutron hole ν-1(1g/sub 9/2/) coupled to the 86Sr excited states on the basis of the shell model
