The 40Ca(α,d)42Sc reaction

  • 1. Michigan State Univ., East Lansing (USA). Cyclotron Lab.

Description

Angular distribution of the 40Ca(α, d)42Sc reaction at Esub(α) = 40 MeV have been measured for states in 42Sc up to an excitation energy of 5.2 MeV. Assignments of the L-transfer are made on the basis of the characteristic shapes of the angular distributions. A strong L = 6 transisiton to a state at 3.61 MeV in the 42Sc is observed. Evidence for the fragmentation of the (fsub(7/2)250 and (fsub(7/2)psub(3/2)50 configurations into the 5+ states at 1.51 and 3.09 MeV is discussed. (Auth.)
