Examination of maintenance procedure of helical-type fusion reactor by virtual-reality system

Description
We report the visualization of a new CAD data of the helical fusion reactor, FFHR, with a cartridge-type helical blanket system by the CAVE-type virtual-reality (VR) system. The CAD data is generated by CAD software 'Fusion360' and the data is converted to the Inventor data format (IPT file). An evaluation and verification supporting tool 'VirDSE' imports the file and projects the image in the VR space. The researcher can watch the reactor from the any viewpoint. He can also grasp and move the component of the FFHR by his 'virtual hand' in the VR space. The movement of the component is recorded in a data file with a trajectory data format by transform matrix. By using the data file, the movement is reproduced in the VR space as an animation. We plan to use this tool system for inspecting the mechanism which fixes and removes the components from the reactor by a crane system. (author)
