Model for thermal-mechanical behavior across a small gap

  • 1. Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment, Pinawa, Manitoba

Description

A model for the thermal-mechanical behavior of the pellet-sheath gap in a reactor fuel element is presented. It uses finite element and Lagrange multiplier techniques and has been implemented in the FAXMOD-3 computer code. The numerics of the model and some typical results are discussed
