Malignant glioma
Description
Studies of non-operative treatment of malignant glioma by the Brain Tumor Study Group are reported. These include chemotherapeutic agents, radiation therapy and combinations of both. Case studies are described and the advantages and disadvantages of each method discussed. The cost-effectiveness of such therapeutic enterprises are also considered. The current study is evaluating the efficacy of corticosteroids as an oncolytic agent in contradistinction to their well known effects in controlling cerebral edema. (K.F.)
