Description
The neutron sensitivity of a helium scintillation fission neutron detector was investigated through theoretical and experimental methods. The energy deposition of neutrons with different energy and fragments of fission targets with different thickness in helium scintillator was calculated based on Monte Carlo method. The energy deposition curves of neutrons and fragments are complementary to each other, so the total energy deposition curve is relatively flatter. The neutron sensitivity was calculated to be 10-15 C · cm2 level. The neutron sensitivity was measured and the theoretical results of neutron sensitivity are consistent with experimental results.
