Description

We describe excited symmetric nuclear matter as (I) a metastable nuclear liquid with vanishing external pressure and (II) a liquid in phase equilibrium with its own vapour. For a simple nuclear model energy implying a realistic ground state incompressibility the compression properties, specific heats and surface tensions for the cases (I) and (II) practically agree up to Tproportional7 MeV. The critical temperatures are 12 MeV and 16 MeV, respectively. (orig.)
