Random phase approximation treatment of the pairing phase transition in strongly rotating nuclei
Description
The rotational frequency for which the energy of pairing vibrations becomes zero provides a useful definition of ω/sub cr/. The fluctuations associated with these modes induce ground state correlations which renormalize in an important way the energy and alignment of rotational bands over a broad range of frequencies around ω/sub cr/. Based on the random phase approximation a simple prescription to take these effects into account is discussed. 20 refs., 13 figs
