Instability of 'dust' crystal in plasma
- 1. Inst. of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, Novosibirsk (Russian Federation)
Description
It is known that a layered dust crystal becomes unstable with gas pressure reducing. An analytical lattice model is derived which allows for the comparison with experimental findings. The model includes the Coulomb repulsion between particulates and attractive forces on the particulates due to the formation of positive space charge clouds behind the upstream particulates. (author)
