The key subjects of the report are the UNCED conference in Rio and the establishment of the Inquiry Commission of the German Bundestag on Protection of Humans and Environment. The other activities of the Office were continued without interruption, i.a. air pollution abatement, environmental policy, legal problems in ecology environment and energy (energy consumption, energy conservation, CO2 emissions, emission reduction in furnaces, instruments for reducing environmental pollution from energy conversion processes, reconstruction of the power supply systems in East Germany and in Central and Eastern Europe. Abstract (German)

Schwerpunkte der Arbeit waren die UNCED-Konferenz in Rio und die Einrichtung der Enquete-Kommission Schutz des Menschen und der Umwelt des Deutschen Bundestages. Die vielen anderen Arbeiten des Amtes, z.B. Luftreinhaltung umweltpolitische Instrumente, rechtswissenschaftliche Umweltfragen, Umwelt und Energie (Energieverbrauch, -einsparung, CO2-Emissionen, Emissionsminderung bei Feuerungsanlagen, Instrumente zur Reduzierung energiebedingter Umweltbelastungen, Sanierung der Energieversorgung in den neuen Bundeslaendern sowie in mittel- und osteuropaeischen Staaten) liefen daneben ohne Unterbrechung weiter.
