New method for calculating the masses of Z > N nuclei and status of their theoretical predictions

  • 1. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst. im. A.F. Ioffe RAN, Sankt-Peterburg (Russian Federation)

Description

The method is developed for calculating masses of nuclei with Z > N. It uses a new type of Garvey-Kelson equations and experimental mass differences of mirror nuclei with T ≥ 1/2 to estimate the displacement of Coulomb energy. The method describes well all mass values known from experiment. Calculated by this method masses of all nuclei A ≤ 60, including the ones far from stability, are in good agreement with results of other works which use phenomenological shell expression to describe Coulomb energy
