5 examples of innovation in dismantling activities

This article reports 5 innovations useful in nuclear activities. DEMplus is a decision support software adapted to nuclear activities, it allows the optimization of construction or deconstruction or dismantling operations as well as maintenance of a facility. WiseBIM is a software that allows the construction of a 3 dimensional mockup from two-dimensional plans. IRIS is a radiological shield that allows the introduction of tools without breaking the containment of radioactivity. The MAUD prototype allows a non-destructive analysis through a digital self-radiography by a solid detector. MAUD is able to detect very low levels of radioactivity. GOBIE and MURENE have been designed to help the recovery operations of old drums of bituminous wastes. GOBIE is a vacuum cleaner able to clean the working area with a suction power of 300 m³/h, while MURENE is able to move drums in an automatic way through the use of avoidance collision radars and a visual representation of the surroundings. Both GOBIE and MURENE are remotely controlled. (A.C.)
