The ultraviolet spectrum of the X-ray source 2A0526-33

Description
Low resolution spectra of the X-ray source 2A0526-33 have been obtained with IUE. The ultraviolet spectrum of 2A0526-33 shows strong highly ionized resonance lines in emission, with a slight indication of a P-Cygni profile for the C IV line. The observed weak ultraviolet interstellar absorption indicates a source closer than 500 pc. The continuum flux is consistent with a steady emission of an optically thick disc dominating a lambda < 2100 A, and a hot spot of temperature T approx. equal to 9000 K contributing mostly in the optical continuum flux depending mainly on the exact shape of the disc spectrum, but is probably not fully modulated with the orbital period.
