High-current electron source with a plasma emitter
Creators
Description
Electron source with plasma emitter is described. The source operates in a continuous mode. Plasma is generated in the magnetron type discharge. The electron selection is realized through an opening in a plane anode. The source forms a focused beam with current up to 1 A at the accelerating voltage of 10-15 rV and extraction efficiency ∼100%. The limiting efficiency is provided due to electron selection from a gas discharge plasma through a secondary plasma produced in an emission channel
