Supernova remnants
Description
The absolute abundances of elements in the remnant of Tycho's supernova are estimated from the results of the X-ray observation with the satellite Tenma. It is shown that they are in rough agreement with the prediction by a carbon deflagration model for Type I supernovae. The optical emission-line spectra of the fast-moving, oxygen filaments in the Puppis A supernova remnant are not well reproduced by simple shock excitation models. (author)
