Improvements to sliding field electromagnetic pumps

Description

This invention concerns electromagnetic pumps which can set a conducting liquid into motion, generally a molten metal, through the interaction of a sliding magnetic field and currents induced by this field in a fluid stream. It has a particularly attractive use in nuclear installations comprising a system through which liquid sodium flows. Its aim is the construction of an electromagnetic pump meeting practical requirements in a better manner than those previously known, notably in that it has reduced electromagnetic leaks, hence greater efficiency, and can be built to enable the inductor assembly to be removed and replaced quickly
