Description

Full text: When Reactor RA-6's Boro Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) facility project began, parallel to the neutron research, the Ra-6 Reactor Maintenance Section received the request to develop the necessary infrastructure for this new device. This paper describe the organization, develop, calculation, construction and solutions of the task. There were three areas of discussion: The building area, the mechanism area and the optic area.. The building area: Assessment of the external thermal column dimensions, and fit the sector to the necessity of the therapy. After the calculation of the thickness of the shelter, began the design of the irradiation room or operating room based on: A) The available place around the external thermal column. B) The layout. C) The design for habitability and human comfort. D) Assessment, design and construction of a modular type of wall and roof manufactured outside the hall reactor and having a clean work in the controlled area. Returning to the former situation with a modular construction (Dismounting every piece). E) Study of stability forces of the building structure for the extra weight. F) Anti Seismic study and construction of the structure. G) Concrete Slide Door System construction. H) Poly-Boro internal cover system. The mechanist area: Develop of the necessary devices for the new installation, devices for calibration and measuring of the neutron beam. Neutron chamber bench, develop and construction of the phantom, where other devices in the project. The optical area: The final align: with aligning Laser getting the centers of the of the neutron bean over the phantom from therapy point of view. (author)
