Raman backscattering instability

Description

The stimulated backscattering of a circularly polarized electromagnetic waves propagating through a plasma along a uniform, static magnetic field is analyzed. A density gradient exsit in the direction of propagation. The threshold power for effective spatial amplification of the backscattered wave is studied as a function of magnitude of the magnetic field
