Rb/Sr-dating of rocks of the Muenchberg gneissic formation, NE-Bavaria

Description

Rb/Sr dating was carried out in rocks and minerals of the bottom and roof series of the Muenchberg gneiss formation. The overall isochronous curve of the bottom series depicts the age of intrusion of the granitic educts. At the time of the intrusion, also a metamorphosis occurred which led to a homogeneisation of the Sr isotopes of the intruded sediments. The Weickenreuth metagranodicrite and the Weissenstein eclogite belong to the same Cambrian-Ordovician intrusion cycle as the augen-gneisses. Deviations in mineral age will be clarified by a model of Sr development. (DG)

Abstract (German)

Die Rb/Sr-Altersbestimmungen wurden an Gesteinen sowie deren Minerale aus der Liegend- und Hangendserie der Muenchberger Gneismasse durchgefuehrt. Die Gesamtgesteinsisochrone der Augengneise der Liegendserie gibt das Intrusionsalter der granitischen Edukte wieder. Altersgleich mit dieser Intrusion ist eine Metamorphose, die zur Sr-Isotopenhomogenisierung der intrudierten Sedimente fuehrte. Der Metagranodiorit von Weickenreuth und der Eklogit vom Weissenstein gehoeren dem gleichen kambro-ordovizeschen Intrusionszyklus an wie die Augengneise. Mit einem Sr-Entwicklungsmodell wird versucht, einige abweichende Mineralalter zu klaeren. (DG)
