A case study of risk-informed SSCS categorization
Description
The categorization of Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs) is one of the cornerstones in the design of the Nuclear Power Plant. In this paper we intend to compare the two methods: exiting deterministic one and the risk-informed one with respect to the relationship and difference. Based on a sample from Westinghouse Owner Group, the influences on the overall risk from the risk-informed SSC categorizations and the meaning of this categorization are discussed subsequently. The pilot study in china Daya Bay NPP will be discussed. Besides, several aspects that should be considered during the implementation of the risk-informed categorization are discussed. (authors)
