Matrix method for kinetic ballooning mode

Description
A matrix method is developed to solve numerically the kinetic high-n ballooning mode. This method approximates directly the difference-differential equation by a finite difference method. Toroidal mode coupling effects and full electron and ion responses are described in the correct forms. Performance, convergence property and accuracy of the method are investigated. (author)
