Spectral analysis without knowledge of the line shape function by use of a new numerical procedure

Description

A spectral distribution built up of n components is supposed to be asymmetric in respect to its centre of gravity. It is shown that such a structure can be analysed by a new numerical method, which couples a Fourier integral transformation with an iterative least squares procedure. Knowing the number n of components of the structure, only two a priori assumptions concerning the spectral profile of a single component are made: Axial symmetry in respect to the line centres and equality of the components' shape except for an affine transformation of the ordinate values.
