Engineering considerations for the Tore Supra pump limiter

  • 1. Sandia National Labs., Albuquerque, NM (USA)
  • 2. Association Euratom-CEA, Centre d'Etudes Nucleaires de Cadarache, 13 - Saint-Paul-lez-Durance (France)

Description

The Tore Supra pump limiter project is a collaboration between Sandia National Laboratories and Oak Ridge National Laboratories in the U.S. and the Association Euratom-CEA at Cadarache, France. The long pulse length and high power levels of Tore Supra, coupled with the desire to remove the maximum practical number of particles, have driven the pump limiter design beyond that ever before experienced. The engineering considerations going into this design are reviewed and several preliminary designs are discussed. (author)
