Study of inelastic fragmentation of 24Mg nucleus at p0/A=4.5 GeV/c in nuclear emulsion

Description
The reaction of fragmentation of the residual relativistic 24Mg nucleus formed in inelastic collisions with emulsion nuclei has been studied. The momentum and correlation characteristics of fragments obtained in the lab. system are strongly distorted by the acquired momentum of the decaying system. A correct analysis of the fragmentation characteristics was made in the residual nucleus rest frame. The data do not contradict the modified statistical theory of fragmentation if one takes into account the motion of the decaying nucleus and nonstatistical contribution of fragments resulting from the decay of the intermediate unstable states
