Interpretation of Saturn's decimetric radio emission

Description
New pencil-beam observations have been made at 69.7 and 21.4 cm wavelengths to improve the decimetric integrated flux density spectrum of Saturn, and the methods of observation and data reduction are described. These results are combined with previously determined integrated and interferometric flux densities to determine the relative intensities of the thermal and synchrotron components of Saturn's decimetric radio emission. Existing data are not adequate for quantitative estimates of the relative contributions of the thermal and synchrotron mechanisms at wavelengths longer than 50 cm, and they can only set lower limits on the ammonia mixing ratio.
