A new 3.5 MV single stage accelerator for a nuclear microprobe
Description
Vivirad is now constructing a 3.5 MV single stage machine of a new design based on some of the Vivitron techniques and including some new features. Several porticos of discrete electrodes are part of the main structure assembled as for a tandem. It is driven by a belt which is strongly decoupled from the accelerator part. It is planned to use either a rf ion source or a Penning ion source depending on the ions to be accelerated. (orig.)
