The review on radiographic testing in 1987

Description

The state of main activities of the first subcommittee on radiographic testing in fiscal year 1987 is reported. The JIS for industrial X-ray apparatuses was revised, the JIS for radiographic testing of aluminum T-form welded joints was revised, and the WES for radiographic testing of steel plate and steel pipe butt welded joints was instituted. The studies on scattering ratio, scattering beam, photoelectrons, characteristic beam, sensitivity characteristics, contrast meters, identification limit contrast and simulation are briefly described. As to the photographing method, the improvement of density distribution, moving photographing method and narrow irradiation photographing method were examined. As special photographing method, the magnification photographing method using amicro-focus X-ray apparatus and the detection of defects with micro-focus X-ray apparatuses were attempted. As for the shapes of defects and the limit of detection, the use of density distribution area was studied. The effect of digital picture improvement processing was examined, and the industrial application of a medical FCR for X-ray picture diagnosis was tried. The obtaining of restructured images in X-ray CT and a portable neutron source for neutron CT were examined. Various studies on neutron radiography and X-ray measurement are also reported.
