Description

On the eve of COP24, France and China have renewed their 'joint political commitment to the effective and transparent implementation of the Paris Agreement in all aspects'. This shared vision is essential coming from a country that will be one of the world's leading players in the nuclear and renewable energies in the future. Nevertheless, this convergence of views will not preclude China from pursuing its overall strategy of influencing energy infrastructures. China's many unilateral equity investments in European energy networks highlight the need to build a genuinely reciprocal, transparent, fair and balanced partnership. (author)
